Synopsis：Set against the historical backdrop of the Japanese invasion of Shanxi in early 1938, the film follows Fu Guiren, a timid new recruit who endures the ultimate test of life and death on the battlefield. On the verge of collapse, he flees as a deserter—but after being entrusted by refugees, shielded by seasoned veterans, and inspired by his fellow soldiers, he awakens in his darkest hour. Taking down the enemy with his own hands, he sheds his identity as a coward and rises as a true warrior, resolutely marching toward the ranks of the Eighth Route Army.
