Company commander Liu Shangzhi led 48 soldiers in a desperate counterattack, engaging the Japanese in a life-and-death struggle. They repelled multiple Japanese assaults and ultimately thwarted the enemy's scheme. All 48 soldiers died heroically, with no survivors.
